While we all occasionally get tired, feeling exhausted chronically is not normal and may be a cause for a closer examination of your lifestyle. There are plenty of everyday lifestyle decisions that contribute to the feeling of fatigue and constant tiredness. Here are 7 of the top reasons:
Being addicted to email. If you think about it, this may seem pretty harmless. Checking your email a lot has become normal in modern society. However, when you become a slave to email and you check it every 5 minutes, then there is something wrong. The constant back in forth not only lowers your productivity, but it also causes you to mentally wear out faster. Research has shown that if you can focus on specific tasks completely and batch similar processes, you will have much more energy. So instead of living with your email client open, close it except for 3 or 4 times during the day when you will check your email.
A lot of clutter. If you're moving around in an environment that's far from orderly, you may already have feelings of anxiety - even before your work starts. Start with a clean and well-organized desk; it will do wonders in helping you boost your energy.
No excitement in your life. Being bored with life can definitely contribute to low every levels. Life is meant to be exciting and fun. When you get maximize the fun and enjoyment you get out of life, you passion energizes your entire body and spirit. One suggestion is to build this right into your daily or weekly routine. For instance, if you find that you are on the road a lot and you enjoy golf, try to play a round of golf in every major golf course around the country. That will make it so you look forward to your trips and will give you a fun goal to go after.
Poor posture. When you sit in front of the computer for long periods of time, you tend to slouch and your posture suffers horribly. Poor posture doesn't only indicate tiredness and boredom; it can only mean health problems, because your blood flow is impaired and your muscles contract. Make it a habit to get up from your workstation every 90 minutes or so. Just walk around the office or get some water.
Lack of vitamin D. Researchers are now only beginning to realize the importance of this vitamin. Most people in American (as well as other countries) are vitamin D deficient. The numbers are startling and is estimated to be upwards of 80% of people don't get enough vitamin D. As it turns out, vitamin D not only helps by boosting your system, it also increases your energy levels.
Eating too much. In the US, we tend to have an over abundance of foods. While food is essential for energy, too much can actually cause you to feel lethargic, gain weight, and become unhealthy. Everyone knows the feeling of being stuffed after a big meal. Instead of stuffing yourself or eating until you are full, try to eat until you are content. Don't worry about finishing your plate (portions in the country continue to increase daily it seems), your health is more important. Bonus tip: Try energy eating. Its when you eat 5-7 meals a day instead of the traditional 3. At each meal eat as if you are tiding yourself over for just the next couple of hours. Don't stuff yourself. Think in terms of 200-400 calories per meal. You'll watch as you start shedding pounds as well as sky rocketing your energy levels. Of course, make sure you eat something that will actually benefit you.
Negative people. As social creatures, we as humans are affected even more than we realize by those we surround ourselves with. Some people are a complete energy drain, while others might help you feel more energized and optimistic. Seek out those people that you enjoy being around, as well as people who have a good outlook on life and are full of energy themselves. We underestimate the power of our spirit, will, and emotions. If we can get these in harmony with our goals, we find that we have more energy than we thought was possible. Surround yourself with positive people.
